Review – Benefit Goof Proof Eyebrow Pencil

Unless you’ve lived under a rock in the past week, then you’ll know that Elle Magazine has released the Benefit Goof Proof Eyebrow Pencil Sample to their readers before their launch. So that totally means I bought the magazine (at £4.10 here in the UK) for the sake of a sample but you can’t call yourself a beauty addict if you don’t though, right? So I thought I’d let you know my thoughts on it so far and whether you should rush to pick it up when it launches alongside the all new Benefit Brow range!

Colour: When picking up Elle, it was impossible to know which shade you were getting, this was probably to prevent others from stealing the product, that said I was searching for the 1 (lightest) shade, yet ended up with 6 (darkest) shade. I really wish there was a way to determine the colour before purchase as this did mean I was left disappointed. However, when trying it for the first time, I was surprised that I could fill in my brows with a very light hand and even with my fair coloured brows, this still worked and looked natural. This has made me realise, should I re-purchase this in its full size, I should go for shade 2/3 as the pigmentation is not overpowering, meaning a natural brow is extremely achievable despite worry of the shade of the product.

Application: Now I’ve been loving my eyebrow pencils again ever since mixing around my eyebrow routine. This reminds me of the Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wizz and Brow Definer all in one convenient product. The pointed end of the crayon-like stick helps to get precision and helped me achieve a precise tail and etch out where my arch would rise too. Then the Wide tip on the other end a) makes filling brows super quick and b) achieve an elegant arch in the first application (which never happens with me with a new product!). All in all I feel genuinely excited to use this and pick it up in a slightly lighter shade, it was really easy to get your eyebrows looking ‘on fleek’.

Wear: For me this is the most important part of any eyebrow product. So many times have I left the house with my eyebrows looking amazing to find half way through work they’ve rubbed off and I look totally silly. This is why I loved my NYX brow gel so much as it literally did not budge! It claims a full 12 hours.. and I have to report this is not the case. As we’ve been celebrating this warmer weather, I have to say I got about 6 hours before I noticed it begin to fade. That said, I did apply it very lightly due to the colour and feel confident I can extend this to 8-9 hours with a heavier application. Nonetheless, it lasts pretty much most of the day and the sample size is so small you can fit it in your handbag for a quick retouch wherever and whenever.

Packaging: Now if anything, Benefit have excelled at in this collection is their packaging. I know I’m not the only one that loves an aesthetically pleasing products and all of those in the new range compromise of this very luxe, silver design with subtle pink typography. Since seeing a preview of the whole collection, I knew I had already fallen in love. This did not dissapoint. It also feels a little heavy too which is so much better at helping you get precision during application. First products in a long time I’d rate 10/10 in this category.

All in all, I’m super impressed! I was expecting this sample to be a write off due to the colour but it is really versatile which makes this entire collection so much more appealing. I’m going to definitely pick up the full size at the RRP of £18.50 when this runs out as the applicator itself combines the best of existing products on the market to get an all-in-one brow perfecter. Sometimes, I find Benefit products a little hit or miss and this is a definitely hit.

Have you tried this or looking to pick it up too when it is released? Let me know!

Amy x
