During the year at work we all work to build points on a bonus scheme and I recently claimed mine – almost £100 of it – on a Debenhams voucher to reward myself on yet more clothes and makeup. I have been eyeing up some MAC goodies and knew exactly what I was adding to my basked as soon as the voucher arrived. I’d like to also apologise for not posting on Tuesday too, uni deadlines are catching up on us all like crazy and after a very demotivating presentation on Monday I think a lot of pressures caught up with me. However, I am back, and who doesn’t enjoy a MAC haul? I’m so looking forward to sharing the new additions to my collection.
This has been a lipstick I have been eyeing up over the past autumnal weeks and knew it would be the next to add to my collection otherwise compromising of nude shades. Diva is a burgundy red, the perfect vampy look for cool tones girls this winter. I love MAC’s matte finish lipsticks, they do become drying however their lasting power is impeccable. I can’t wait to pair this up with a golden-shimmer eye look over the Christmas period. I have heard MAC’s burgundy lip liner pairs well with this shade, but having seen several dupes on the high street, I’m keen to give those a try. I often use a lip brush to apply darker shades and so a pencil is not always needed for precision. All in all, a beautiful shade that I know I’ll be wearing A LOT.
2. Lip Liner – Soar.
Now this has been on my wishlist for quite some time but wherever I went it was out of stock – MAC store in Soho and Oxford Street, MAC online and at the Duty Free stand in Gatwick, but alas, it is finally mine. Since adding Brave lipstick to my collection I knew these would partner well and I haven’t been disappointed, even on its own, Soar is a wonderfully wearable shade for a ‘my lips but better’ look. I’m already really impressed with the quality and how long this beauty lasted on the lips and I can’t wait to wear it more often.
3. MAC 217 Blending Brush.
Ahhh – the much coveted 217 brush. Having never owned a MAC brush previously and I’ve always been drawn to this eye brush. Since blogging, I’ve understood the power a good blend makes to any eye look, quickly becoming a part of my everyday make up routine, with this promising to not only make blending easier and quicker I knew I had to give it a try. Made of goats hair, this bad boy delivers. Since its arrival I’ve used it daily and impressed with the results every time. I was unsure if this would be a product that is over-hyped, but I can guarantee it’s well worth the splurge. Plus – doesn’t it just look beautiful?
Again another well hyped product curiousity encouraged me to buy. There is nothing more important in a girls makeup collection than a perfect concealer to hide dark circles and breakouts and since reading hundreds of positive reviews for the pro longwear concealer I had to try it. I went with NC15 as it matches my Studio Fix foundation, but since using my L’Oreal True Match in C2 whilst I still have a little tan left from my holiday, it works brilliantly to conceal imperfections and brighten my under eyes, acting as a highlighter. It’s quite thick but just means a little goes a long way, the glass bottle is a little fragile but I don’t often drop my makeup so that is too much of a concern for me. I’m sure I’ll post a detailed review after using it for a few more weeks.
I never imagined being so obsessed with a makeup brand but MAC really delivers quality with their products. Sure, they’re high end pricing but they will last a long time and I have began to notice such a difference with my makeup as a result of adding more to my collection. I also bought some new Joni Jeans from my local Debenhams with my voucher (plus I got 30% off with the current black friday deals going on) – plus with 10% off on all beauty items at Debenhams it’s a great opportunity to add coveted products to your collection.
What are your current MAC faves? Have you tried any of the products? Let me know in the comments!
