There’s nothing I love more than reading beauty related posts all about favourite products of the past year, but I recently realized I had never actually written up a ‘favourites’ post myself despite having my blog for over a year, so today, is talking you through my January faves. My daily make-up products are always changing based upon the season, the humidity, new products and inspired looks but right now these products are used daily in making myself look much more human so continue reading to see what’s become my go-to for January.
MAC Face & Body C1 / I’ve been loving this lightweight foundation whilst my skin is much drier in the colder season. This leaves a dewy look to my skin that moisturises my dry skin without clinging to it. This is a very buildable foundation with a longevity of a solid 8 hours without primer, but for better lasting power I use my Laura Mercier foundation primer (not photographed), so for work I only use 1/2 layers but for days out or a fuller coverage I use up to 4 layers to cover imperfections.
Rimmel Lasting Finish Concealer Porcelain / This concealer is used to not only conceal but to highlight and shape my brows. I love it and has been a firm favourite for months. This is the lightest shade in the collection and is perfect for under eye brightness. I blend this out with my Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge which creates a flawless finish. This is a full coverage concealer and is A-MA-ZING. Seriously, it’s so cheap and high in quality. See my in depth review here.
Benefit Hoola Bronzer / I bought this back in Black friday (see that post here) and have been using it to contour ever since. I’m at my palest in January and need this to bring back some colour in my face and this achieves this without making my complexion appear flat. The colour looks so natural on and is often complimented.
Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Pomade Blonde / My holy grail eyebrow product. I love how well this matches my darker roots with my ombre hair as well as how easy it makes arching your brow. I have a full review here but have ordered the Freedom dupes and can’t wait to try them out seeing how they compare. Have you tried them? Let me know how you think they compare.
Makeup Revolution Eyebrow Tint Blonde / To keep those stray hairs in place all day I use this wonderful gel by Makeup Revolution. I picked this up in their sale at £1.50 and it’s quickly become a product I couldn’t live without. Not only does it keep my brow in place and help to set the Dipbrow Pomade but it also makes it slightly lighter on the hairs meaning my brows look incredibly natural, avoiding that ‘drawn on’ look we all try to avoid. Really recommend this as a dupe to Benefit’s Gimme Brow.
Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette / I have phases where I use this palette daily then not at all with the vast collection of eye shadows in my make up collection but at the moment it has become my go-to daily. The gold/brown hues are incredibly natural and can be dressed up or down accordingly to the look you’re going for. It’s hard to pick out my favourite shades as I try to mix them up as much as possible but a glittery lid with a nude lip is perfect for work and remains very appropriate for winter.
W7 Liquid Eye liner Black / My holy grail eye liner. My review of why I love this more than high end liners can be found here and my opinion remains the same. The best ever eye liner is less than £2 and everyone needs to try it! This makes my daily cateye look extremely easy and lasts all day. Honestly, this stuff is amazing.
Max Factor False Lash Effect Mascara Black / This is a volumizing mascara that finishes off my look. This makes my eyes look much bigger which is great for when I start work at 9am. I have compared this mascara to Benefits They’re Real Mascara here and still believe this is a perfect daily mascara available from the high street/drugstore.
Have you been using any of the same products or have any recommendations for winter looks? Let me know!
