Finally, I’m talking all about the MAC X Ellie Goulding Collection!!! You only have to know me for a few days to realise I am one of Ellie Goulding’s biggest fans. Everything about her I idolise and I’m definitely obsessed with anything on her name on it from her new album to a magazine with an exclusive interview. So can you even begin to imagine my excitement 30 weeks ago (definitely not been counting down.. or anything.. umm, yeah..) when Mac shared their collaboration with her. I actually screamed (must to Rich’s dismay) and awaited its release very impatiently. So along came December the 14th, it was live and I was on it. I actually made two orders – one before and one after pay day – getting everything from the collection I had my eyes on from the very start. Since the collection is only available until the 15th of January I’m writing about how I’ve got on with the products so far so if you’re thinking about adding them to your collection you’ve got limited time and I hope this post helps make your mind up!
I’m a total lover of Mac lipsticks so it seemed only appropriate I added both lipsticks of the collection to my basket. Ellie Goulding is the queen of neutral shades, evident in the collection but in all of her music videos and interviews, and so the two lipsticks remain very ‘my lips but better’ but paired with the rest of the collection work amazingly to complete the look. So the two shades: Without Your Love (lighter shade) is explained as a warm seashell pink and it reminds me of creme cup if not a little warmer which works amazingly for my NC15 skin (and anyone with warm or neutral undertones). However, my favourite is definitely the Only You shade (all named after her songs, if you wasn’t aware) which is more coral pink. I love a darker nude and this is perfect. They are both Cremesheen which means they’ll not only be well pigmented but also nourishing on the lips, I’m sure these are going to quickly become my go-to for an everyday lip. Really gorgeous shades. If you’re in two minds over these, trust me, grab them whilst you can!
Potentially the most gorgeous product in the collection, in fact, the most gorgeous makeup product I have ever owned. This Powder Brush called I’ll Hold My Breath is a gorgeous bronze/blush duo. Now I’d definitely say if you are cool toned this may not work for you as it is a very warm peach and pink colour with yellow undertones. The shades are gorgeous but I’m sure very dupable however, look how gorgeous at the packaging? I’m sure this is why I’m finding it so hard to use as the logo on the blush/bronze is such a wonderful touch. In terms of pigmentation they are amazing (what else would you expect from Mac?) and a great compact for on the go as well as to display at home. *Sat here writing this whilst rubbing the gorgeous rose gold embellished logo on the black case*.
I only added the 217 brush to my collection a few weeks ago in my last Mac haul (here) and it’s already become a staple in my everyday make-up application. So this collection saw the introduction to a 217 brush THAT IS ROSE GOLD. This was something I couldn’t miss, I love Rose Gold! That said, the black handle does not feel as premium as my other 217 from the permanent range but so long as the bristles work in the same way I know I won’t be disappointed to have two 217’s to make blending amazingly quick and easy.
With a very comparable skin tone to Ellie, I knew I wanted one of her compacts in my collection. Halycon Days is made of colour cream bases for more of a face kit, but I don’t love cream products enough to justify it as I know I wouldn’t use it. However, when I saw Halycon Nights had four eyeshadow powders with a cream colour base in the bottom of the amazing compact case I had to add it to my collection even at £39.50. However, with Mac eyeshadow pans at £10 each and these are considerably larger than an average sized pan plus a cream colour base and the gorgeously sleek packaging. For Mac, that’s great value. Again, very warm shades, so be aware. The white shade is amazing for highlighting the inner corner and under the brow bone. I love the brown shades and cant wait to try out different looks with them. I’m not quite sure what to make of the cream colour base except as a base for the shadows. Be sure to let me know the other uses!
I just wanted to include an image of the packaging as a massive packaging hoarder it is gorgeous and lined in Rose Gold. Oh I got too excited – am I the only one? Maaaaaybe, but just look at that. Ah. So amazing.
PLUS, as I made two online orders, I got two samples of the Zoom Fast Black Mascara. I love Mac mascaras and still loving my previous sample from the Soho Store. They are actually really underrated and I’ll determine by using these if my Benefit They’re Real has a replacement.
I really do love the products in this line and hoping to get a hell of a lot of use out of them! Everything from the packaging and the colours in the sets are gorgeous and they are one of the limited edition sets you really don’t want to miss out on.
Did you pick up on any of these items? Be sure to let me know what you think!
