Christmas tree? Check. Tinsel? Check. Fairy lights? Check. Christmas nails? No? No worries, I’ve got your back with essie’s help! Essie has only gone and created a Christmas collection that looks so beautiful I couldn’t wait to share them with you as they’ve definitely helped me get in the Christmassy mood.
I’m always one to check out nail trends and it seems a huge focus in 2017 is glitz and glam, and essie have made this collection with celebrating new year in style as a focus. The carefully curated selection of colours are extremely seasonal and I’m obsessed. I’ll talk about the colours in more detail and how I’ve found they perform on me!
Ring in the bling: Such an Amy colour! This rich deep red (pictured above) has such a pretty pearl finish that adds a bit of bling, perfect for the festivities. This said I was a little disappointed as the formula was a little too sheer and the coats needed to be a little thick to get full opacity. However, once on, it lasted a good five days without chipping away.
Social-lights: I feel like this collection is bossing it when it comes to unique shades. Social-Light is a slate grey with a duochrome effect; in the light, it reflects both orange or green. A great consistency in formula and two coats was enough to get a strong colour. I love this so much!
Be cherry! This classic red (pictured above) is such a holiday red; classic and bright. On application, I found this was so pigmented and one coat was plenty to get an opaque colour. Sealed with a glossy top coat, this looked so seasonal and I loved the shiny finish, but it would also look fantastic matte too. If you want a colour that will never go out of fashion year after year, this is for you!
New year, new hue: I am obsessed with this plum shade (above), it’s so autumnal and helps you look really tanned too! It also has a really nice warm undertone that will suit so many skin tones. Two coats and I got a creamy finish, I did find it chipped quite easily and darker shades do show chips more than lighter colours but a quick refresh can sort that.
Suit & tied: So happy they have included a nude in this collection! This caramel nude (above) is such a unique nude whilst providing a nice base to add a glitter top coat or to keep things subtle in a world of reds and greens. I used two thin coats and got a lovely rich colour but have to admit, I’m sure I’ll be going back to this in the spring too.
On your mistletoes: Dark royal blues are all the trend especially with the engagement of Prince Harry. This deep oxford blue (above) is so pigmented and right on trend this season. It is a little runnier than the other colours in this collection so work in thin layers, but this did help it last even longer on the nails.
Congrats: I initially thought this was part of the essie Christmas collection but I’ve not realised that my beautiful friend that works with essie sent this with an engagement card. Siobhan, I’m sure you’re reading this – thank you so much! This colour, for exactly this reason, is my favourite just because of how personal it is. It also helps I can wear this all throughout the year and it’ll always remind me of my proposal. If you want to hear exactly how Rich proposed, watch this video. What a lovely surprise!
I’m sure you’ll agree this is a gorgeous collection and if you’re Christmas obsessed, like me, you’ll love these colours!
