I adore an amazing concealer and have collected a few. Today, as part of my ‘Battle of the…’ series, I’m investigating the concealers in my makeup draws, the differences in them, the longevity as well as their quality. With a mix of high end and budget options, if you are anything like me and live to find ‘the perfect’ concealer, you will want to continue reading.
Mac pro longwear concealer nc15 / one of the top two high end concealers I own and I got this to match my pale shade nc15 although I find this appears a little lighter which helps to brighten my under eyes. I love the colour of this, it blends effortlessly and looks incredible natural. As for longevity, this is going to last you all day regardless of whether you are covering your under eye circles or a nasty blemish – would you expect anything less from Mac? I would recommend setting this with a powder, especially if you’re oily. With my dry skin however, I only found it clang to dry patches around my nose but the rest of my face was fine.
Nars creamy concealer in chantilly / the most expensive of my collection that I picked up in my latest Asos haul here, I never thought I’d ever justify spending so much on a concealer but I heard amazing things from Em Ford so naturally I had to give it a go. I was not at all dissapointed. This is the best! If you’re pale you’ll love this shade as I often find it difficult to find a shade light enough to brighten my face as well as concealing areas yet this does a perfect job. This is lost lasting, high coverage and a little goes a long way. I use my beauty blender to blend this out as well as sharpen my contour and I can’t get enough. This is definitely a holy grail product – if you’re debating it, you won’t be disspointed. Not only a high quality products but Nars products make me weak at the knees – am I the only one?
Rimmel wake me up ivory / I wrote an in-depth review of this concealer here and really like it for a lighter, drugstore alternative. It is a little more pink in tone, so I put this on under my foundation instead of on top, this way I can balance the colour out with my base. It does a great job in hiding dark circles with a few layers. This does not last as long as the previous two, but it’s a fraction of the price. Go and swatch this and if you find a shade that matches your skin tone you will fall in love!
Makeup revolution focus and fix light / I’m a huge fan of makeup revolution and it breaks my heart to say this concealer is rubbish. It is not only a little too yellow but it applies far too clumpy. This is the cheapest of the selection and I was so disspointed. I tried everything to make this work but it’s just not happening – I’m not sure I’ve just got a botched product or if anyone else has had this problem, but it’s a sound no from me.
Rimmel lasting perfection porcelain / these are the best drugstore concealers. I. Kid. You. Not. A total dupe for Mac’s studio finish concealer and as soon as I bought one I immediately bought the other as it was the highest coverage concealer I had found in stores. I can’t sing it enough praises. The porcelain colour is a perfect highlight shade if you’re pale like me, I put this in any areas I want to brighten such as my under eyes, nose and under my brow bone. I have an indepth review here, warning: my love towards it is continued.
Rimmel lasting perfection ivory / can you see how much of a perfect match this is for my skin? Although my face is more yellow in tone (hooray for weird english genes) this is perfect in covering blemishes without adding brightness. Again, very high coverage and will last you all day after you set this with a powder, regardless of it being high end or drugstore. I have had mine for months now and I have only recently hit pan with plenty of product left with the writing on the top of the packaging well scratched off – a true sign of true love. If you take anything from this post it’s give this concealer a try!
I really believe that high end concealers are well worth the splurge, you really what you pay for in regards to coverage and quality. Nars creamy concealer is my most recent addition, but it’s quickly becoming my favourite with my Mac pro longwear with just better packaging. Now the Rimmel lasting perfection concealer is the best of the drugstore and is perfect for when you don’t want too much of a heavy base. I don’t always like using my high end products (in fear they will run out quickly) so this is reached for daily to sculpt my brows and hide any blemishes I may have. I have not found a drugstore concealer that even compares to this but it’s going to remain a staple!
Have you tried any of these concealers? Do you have any thoughts? Let me know!
